This class goes for a full hour and is counted as 2 x 30 minute classes towards your family discount! See our pricing page for more details and special offers.
Proposed Acrobatics and Breakdancing:
This class has a combination of Acrobatics as well as Breakdancing moves for the dancer who like a challenge and would love to learn new tricks! This class is also counted as 2 x 30 minute classes towards our family discount offer. Register your interest now!
Hip Hop:
Forget those Hip Hop classes that turn out to be Jazz to Hip Hop music, DIS DANCE offers Hip Hop with attitude and style! Hip Hop dancing can be seen on movies such as “You Got Served” and “Step Up” and takes on many different forms. It is essentially about attitude, stage presence and dancing with energy and style. If you like to move to music by artists such as Chris Brown, Usher, Missy Elliot, Timbaland or Black Eyed Peas, DIS DANCE Hip Hop is for you!
Jazz:
These classes essentially follow a Jazz/Funk routine but students will also learn elements of technique and stretching. Most people who like Hip Hop opt to do Jazz as they are similar but have a different attitude and stage presence. These classes are an excellent starting point for those who just want to move as well as a great opportunity to extend the skills of someone more advanced. If you like to move to high energy music by artists such as Britney Spears, Rihanna, Ciara or Lady Gaga, DIS DANCE Jazz is for you!
Contemporary:
Most people would say Contemporary is closest to Ballet in style but it is much more modern in its movements. DIS DANCE Contemporary is sometimes done to rock, metal or more classical music and has an emotional and dynamic presence on stage. These classes are heavily based on ballet, technique, stretching and flexibility and would suit any level of ability.
Cheer Dance:
Cheer Dance combines strong jazz movements with formation work, basic tricks and the use of pom poms. This style requires a lot of energy and clear cut movements which are very crowd pleasing. If you think you like performing high energy routines with enthusiasm, Cheer Dance is for you!
Tiny Tots Combo Class:
This class combines Ballet, Jazz and Hip Hop into one 45 minute class and is for students who have participated in dance classes before. Students will learn all three styles thoughout the year which will prepare them for the classes that we have on offer in the Junior Level. Tiny Tots will focus on being in time with the music and learn how to grow confident in dance lessons and performances. They will have the opportunity to perform with the studio at their Half Yearly and Yearly performances.
Tiny Tots Move 'n' Groove:
New class for 2012! This class is for those who are aged 3 or 4 and have not danced in a studio setting before. This class will focus on a combination of basic Hip Hop, Jazz and Ballet like our Tiny Tots Combo class but will have special "in-house" performances for parents at the end of each term rather than being involved in performances outside the studio. No costumes will need to be bought for this class, students will get to choose what they wear to each performance at the end of each term! This is a nice relaxed transitional class for students and parents wanting to enter the dance world.
BALLET:
Ballet is taught in both our Tiny Tots Combo class and Junior Ballet class. It is also used as a base for our Intermediate Contemporary class. Our younger students in Tiny Tots and Junior Ballet are learning exercises from the brand new Royal Academy of Dancing syllabus as well as learning classical choreography to contribute to their performances throughout the year. Students learn a very basic and introductory level of ballet before continuing to Contemporary at the Intermediate level.
Senior Combo Class:
For the enthusiastic dancer only! A combination of Jazz, Cheer Dance, Acrobatics and Technique all in one! This class will focus on two routines (Jazz and Cheer Dance) each semester but will teach essential technique, stretching and flexibility aspects of dance as well. As a bonus, this class also offers acrobatics which will be incorporated into routines throughout the year. If you are a keen dancer in Year 7 to 12, don't miss out on this great opportunity to learn 4 dance styles for the price of 2!
