All students are to bring a bottle filled with water to class and their correct shoes and uniform. Hair is to be tied back and/or have a headband to keep hair off of the face. A bun for ballet classes is preferred. Please do not wear excessive jewellery as it can be a distraction and potential safety hazard.
What to Bring to Classes
Students are to wear their DIS Dance studio singlet/leotard (plain black singlet if uniform is on order) to class regardless of what class they are in as well as black pants, 3/4 pants or shorts (no school or other sporting uniforms please.) Optional Uniform such as 3/4 pants, shorts are also available for purchase or order.
No you do not have to but it is the preferred option to monitor posture and alignment. If you are chosen to do the exam, the studio leotard will need to be worn as well as pink stockings for ballet and tan stockings for Jazz and Tap. Ballet skirts and plain black shorts provided by DIS DANCE on the day of performances or examinations.
All female students will need to purchase tan stockings from DIS DANCE administration (new style for 2020). The only classes not needing tan stockings are ballet students who wear pink stockings. Please see your class teacher if your class requires pink stockings for the concert and exams. Stockings are $15 each or 2 pairs for $25.
White shoes like Rabens. These do not have to be expensive. Most people get the $10 shoes from K-Mart or Parklea Markets. They need to look white on stage, be comfortable to dance in and not slip off. Lace up shoes are best as they are less likely to slip off.
All students in these classes need black Jazz shoes (not boots). If you have not bought any shoes yet or need to buy a bigger size, we recommend that students buy the cheaper leather shoes NOT BOOTS if at all possible as I have noticed students are able to dance much more freely in the leather shoes (less bulk and better point). They are also MUCH cheaper.
All students are required to have pink leather ballet shoes with elastic. For ATOD classes pink stockings will need to be worn for the exam (and can be worn to class each week) and are available for purchase with administration.
All students are required to wear black buckle up tap shoes for all tap classes or black lace up tap shoes for boys.
